Family Picnic at the Park (Many pictures)

It was such a warm day today! My husband was off during the day so we took this opportunity to enjoy the beautiful day at the park.

In Japan, it is common for friends and coworkers to get together to have a picnic (and usually lots of drinking, too) under the beautiful sight of cherry blossom at well-known parks with cherry trees. This tradition is called “Hanami“. When we visited the nearby park, there was a tree with gorgeous white blossoms, so we decided to have a picnic under this tree today (no drinking though).

Here are some pictures my husband took today:

The boys enjoying lunch (Rolled eggs & Spinach, strawberries, cucumbers, and Onigiri rice ball with pork, shiitake mushroom, carrot and green onion)

The boys loved running around in the big field, feeling the grass and flowers with their hands. Now that the weather is getting nicer, I am so excited to be able to enjoy the beautiful outdoors more freely with our boys!

When we came home, the strawberry shortcake that I had made this morning was waiting for us!! My Pinterest feed was suggesting a lot of no-bake icebox cake ideas using graham crackers and whipped cream, and strawberry shortcake is my absolute favorite, so I had to try it.

I layered the crackers, whipped cream and sliced strawberries in a squared dish and let it settle in the fridge for 4ish hours and it became a delicious after-park treat.

It was so yummy! I am so happy I found this easy way to make it.

Also, my husband made us a snack tonight before he went to work. He got creative and made grilled mozza cheese & bacon with crushed blueberries. Mmmmmm. It all went soooo well. It was yummy!

I hope everyone had a great day.

Thank you so much for reading!
